I'm saddened when I look at some of the news on Yahoo! today. There was an article about the ban on Partial Birth abortion being disputed in the Supreme Court - and how they want to change the name becauuse it doesn't correctly represent the procedure.
It sickens me to see the description of what they have to do - cut open or crush the skull of the child in the middle of the third month. Why will people fight for the rights of animals (I'm not against that) and yet the same people will turn around and fight for someone's "right" to an abortion?
First, abortions were pushed because of the cases of rape and birth defects becoming dangerous for the mother's life. But what instances do you know of other than convenience for a woman after 3 months? It's a very rare occasion that a woman doesn't know after 3 months. And to allow teenagers to have abortions WITHOUT THEIR PARENT'S CONSENT?? If my child were in that situation, and I found out that they allowed her to have an abortion that could later damage her chances of having children or put her life in danger you better believe that I'm going to sue. I am that child's legal guardian until she is 18 and you better let me raise her the way I see fit until that time. What about MY rights to raise my child and protect her??
Little by little, I see the moral values slipping down the drain - Virginia banned gay marriage - or rather defined it as one man one woman - but how long will that really last? How long will I be able to speak that homosexuality is a sin without getting thrown in jail? I don't hate those people - I still have friends who have chosen to live that lifestyle - they don't believe they have "chosen" it, but I know the truth, and I expect the right to continue to believe the way I do.
And then there's that whole mess with George Allen and that stupid thing he said in Southwest Virginia. It makes it hard to pick up a pen and vote for a man who would say such things, and of course I'm wanting to give him the benefit of the doubt. But do you vote for someone else who isn't going to uphold your stance in congress? Which is more important? Voting for a person's character or voting for a person's stance?
*sigh* time to work...I'll write more later.
