Updates - New Look?

I've been looking at my blog page and realizing that I need to change the look a bit. The dark look is beginning to look a bit morose, so I think I'll find a new look. Any opinions?

I'm also going to try and post more often again - there are a lot of things on my mind and I would like to try and post them. One of such things was a video I watched on Yahoo! about a girl who had a "Kill Bush" myspace page. And of course, CNN covered it with a twist of "How could the government humiliate this poor teenager?" - How absurd!

You can find the video here - under "Anti-Bush myspace Page Removed"
http://news.yahoo.com/video

In the video, the girl has a picture she's made with a dagger and blood in the president with a picture that says "Kill Bush" over top of it. I think this is a bit more than "Anti-Bush" and it was right for the government to take notice. She claims that she does not "hate" Bush but his policies, because hate is too strong of a word. And "KILL" is not?!?! The parents belly-ached about the CIA "humiliating" their daughter at school - that she was clearly harmless.

I have taught in the public schools and once I receive my graduate degree, plan to return. With all of the school shootings going on and internet threats from "well-meaning" students, I applaud the government for taking this seriously and for making an example of a teenager who obviously has yet to learn the consequences of irresponsible and irrational statements. Those type of statements do not "silence" opinion or free speech - free speech does not and should never cover threats, no matter how sarcastic they may be.

It infuriates me to see CNN condoning this type of behavior with the "innocent" twist of a 14 year old girl who is "high-spirited." The CNN coverage only solidified in this young girl's mind that it was okay to make such brash statements.

I put in my two cents worth to CNN and will do my best to never watch them again in protest of their constant bashing of the government in any way, shape, or form. But of course, I am only one - but at least I will know that I have not been a part of supporting such nonsense.

Okay, I'm off my high horse...time to grab some lunch.
